Tourists visiting Crete should be aware that lagocephalus is strictly banned from sale and consumption in Greece. If you see it offered at a fish market or restaurant, do not buy or eat it. When swimming or snorkeling, the fish is not aggressive, but avoid handling any unfamiliar species caught or spotted near the shore.
