Greece Backs Crete's Year-Round Tourism Push

Monday, 29 June 2026/SourceGoogle News/1 min read
Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni has expressed strong support for Crete's push toward year-round tourism, signaling government backing for efforts to extend the island's traditional summer season into a full 12-month destination. Crete, which currently sees the bulk of its visitors between May and October, has been working to attract travelers outside peak months by promoting cultural heritage, winter hiking, gastronomy, and local festivals. The minister's endorsement suggests continued investment in infrastructure and promotion to support off-season travel. For tourists, this means more services, accommodation options, and activities are expected to be available during shoulder and winter months, making autumn and spring visits increasingly attractive with fewer crowds and competitive pricing.
