PASOK: Government Watches Passively as Greek Living Standards Decline

Thursday, 26 March 2026/CretaOne/1

The opposition PASOK party has criticized the Greek government for failing to address the continuous deterioration of living standards among Greek citizens. The party argues that temporary government measures, including subsidies and "pass" schemes, are merely "a smoke screen" that mask deeper economic problems.

According to recent Eurostat estimates for 2025, Greece records the lowest per capita GDP in purchasing power units across the European Union, at just 68% of the European average. PASOK contends that these cosmetic policy measures fail to tackle the fundamental economic challenges facing ordinary Greek households.
