A light magnitude 3.3 earthquake occurred on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 6:10 PM local time (GMT+3), centered 14 km south-southeast of Kithira island. Kithira lies off the southern Peloponnese coast, roughly 150 km northwest of western Crete. At this magnitude, the tremor was minor and unlikely to have been felt strongly, if at all, across Crete. No damage or tsunami risk has been reported. Seismic activity of this scale is common in the Eastern Mediterranean and poses no practical concern for visitors currently in Crete. Tourists should remain aware that Greece sits in an active seismic zone, but standard precautions apply and no disruption to travel, accommodation, or activities on the island is expected.
