The Samaria Gorge in western Crete will be accessible from both entrances on Monday. Hikers typically enter from the Xyloskalo trailhead at Omalos and exit at the coastal village of Agia Roumeli, or travel the route in reverse. Having both entrances open gives visitors full flexibility to choose their preferred direction. The gorge is generally open from May through October, weather and safety conditions permitting.
