The Greek Army dispatched a specialized unit to safely retrieve the object after it was found washed ashore. The area was secured during the operation as a precaution. Agios Nikolaos is a popular coastal town and tourist hub on the Gulf of Mirabello. The beach has since been cleared and no ongoing risk to the public has been reported. Visitors to the Agios Nikolaos area should be aware that if they encounter any unidentified objects on beaches, they should not touch them and should immediately notify local authorities or the coast guard. Normal tourist activities in the region are not affected.
