Monday, 1 June 2026/SourceFlashnews/1 min read
Lifeguard services are now fully operational across 17 award-winning beaches in the Apokoronas municipality, located in the Chania regional unit in western Crete. Lifeguards have been stationed at all designated beaches for the summer season, providing safety coverage for swimmers and beachgoers. The Apokoronas coastline is known for its Blue Flag and other certified beaches, which attract significant visitor numbers each year. Tourists planning to swim in this area can do so with the reassurance that trained lifeguards are on duty. Visitors are still advised to follow posted safety guidelines, swim within designated areas, and pay attention to flag warnings indicating sea conditions. The Apokoronas region is accessible from Chania city, roughly 25 to 40 minutes by car depending on the specific beach.
