Back to newsGreece's 2026 summer sales season begins on Monday, July 6 and runs for two months, ending on Saturday, August 29. During this period, shops across Crete and the rest of Greece are legally permitted to offer discounted prices on clothing, footwear, accessories, and household goods. Discounts typically range from 20% to 60%, with deeper reductions appearing in the later weeks of the season. Tourists visiting Crete in July and August can take advantage of sales in major shopping streets in Heraklion, Chania, and Rethymno, as well as in local boutiques and chain stores. Shopping hours during the sales period follow standard Greek retail hours: generally 9:00 to 21:00 on weekdays, with reduced hours on Saturdays and most shops closed on Sundays.
