ATV Accident Halts Traffic in Hersonissos, Crete

Sunday, 12 July 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
On Sunday afternoon, a traffic accident involving tourists occurred in the Analipsi area of Hersonissos, in the Heraklion regional unit. An ATV (all-terrain recreational vehicle) overturned in the middle of the road, causing an incident that required emergency response. Hersonissos is one of Crete's most popular resort areas, heavily frequented by tourists during summer. ATV rentals are common throughout the island, particularly in coastal resort zones. Visitors renting ATVs or quad bikes in Crete should exercise caution, especially on unfamiliar roads. Greek roads can be narrow, winding, and uneven outside of main arteries. Always wear a helmet, keep speeds appropriate for road conditions, and ensure you hold a valid license for the vehicle category you are renting. Avoid riding ATVs on main roads unless comfortable with local traffic patterns.
