Traostalos peak (or Tragostalos ) was first excavated in 1963-1964 and in 1978 by the archaeologist group of Kostis Davaras . The excavations revealed one of the many peak sanctuaries in East Crete.

Along with the usual clay human and animal figurines common to peak sanctuaries, Traostalos has, notably, a female figure with a swollen leg. Other finds at Traostalos include ceramic boats and stone altars.

A rescue excavation from April to October 1995 was led by Stella Chryssoulaki . The summit is located at an altitude of 515m.

It can be accessed via a dirt road starting from the village Azokeramos , Sitia province. The peak sanctuary seems to have a religious connection with the Pelekite Cave , located on the western slopes of the hill, above the sea.
