Saint Anthony church at Kavoussi

The church of Agios Antonios ( Saint Anthony ) is located at position Vrysidia , above the beach of Tholos , in Kavousi , Ierapetra province. The church was a katholikon (main temple) of a small monastery that is placed chronologically at the end of the 14th century.

In fact, there is a visitor inscription with the year 1390. The church is one-room and vaulted, while inside it preserves mural decoration in poor condition.

In the iconographic program, apart from the scenes of the Christological cycle, scenes from the life of Saint Anthony are depicted, such as the meeting with Saint Paul of Thebes , but also the equestrian Saints Demetrius and George .
