Retzakas Fall at Tzitzifia

Retzakas waterfall is located near the village Tzitzifia and is the highest waterfall in the province Kissamos , with a height of about 15m. In the same stream, Mikros (small) Retzakas and Megalos (big) Retzakas are formed, which have water during the winter months and until the beginning of spring.

The name retzakas means waterfall in the local dialect of Western Crete, in correspondence with the name rechtra, rechtara, richtra , etc. that we meet in other places on the island. In the province Kissamos we find other smaller waterfalls with the same name, such as Retzakas in Mesa Sfinari .
