Ler a história
The church of Saint Nicholas (Agios Nikolaos) is located in a rural location north of the village Mouri in Kissamos province. It belongs to the architectural type of the simple transverse-vaulted and dates back to the 13th century.
Externally it has undergone major alterations, but fortunately internally it rescues much of the initial fresco decoration in three of the four antennas attributed to a 14th-century folklore painter. The arch of the sanctuary hosts the Ascension, the quadrangle hosts Jesus the Pantocrator and the semicylinder houses co-officiating hierarchs, the drum depicts the Philoxenia (hospitality) of Abraham.
The lower zones on the walls are depict standing upright saints, among whom stands out the local Saint John Xenos (the Stranger). The transverse aisle depicts scenes from the Mariologian cycle and the life of Saint Nicholas.
