Back to newsThe Traditional Strata festival returns to Chania for its fifth consecutive year, bringing live folk music, dance, and cultural performances to the narrow streets of the Old Town and the Venetian Harbor waterfront. The event takes place on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, with festivities running through the evening hours in the historic center.
Now in its fifth edition, the Strata has become one of Chania's signature summer cultural events, celebrating Cretan musical and artistic heritage in an outdoor, street-festival format. Performances are spread across multiple locations within the Old Town, so visitors can wander between stages and discover different aspects of local tradition.
Admission is free and open to all. The Old Town and harbor area will be busy, so arrive early to find a good spot. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended given the cobblestone streets.
