A minor earthquake struck the Siteia area in eastern Crete on the morning of Wednesday, July 1. The tremor was recorded at a shallow focal depth of approximately 5 kilometers. Siteia is a coastal town on the far eastern tip of the island, popular with visitors for its Venetian fortress, sandy beaches, and relaxed atmosphere.
