This strategy aims to reduce pressure on popular coastal areas during peak summer months and distribute economic benefits more evenly across the island. For visitors, this means improved services and experiences may be available outside the traditional July-August window, with potentially less crowding at major sites such as Knossos, Elafonisi, and Balos. Travelers planning trips in May, June, September, or October can expect competitive pricing and a more authentic experience of Cretan hospitality.
