Back to newsThe road Kaisareias in Platanias, Rethymno is closed to traffic from Wednesday, July 1 through Friday, July 3, 2026, due to ongoing roadworks. The closure began Wednesday morning and is expected to last the full three days. Tourists driving through or around the Platanias area of Rethymno should expect to use alternative routes during this period. If you are staying nearby or planning to visit attractions in that part of western Crete, allow extra travel time and check with your accommodation for recommended detours. The works are scheduled to be completed by the end of Friday, after which normal access should resume.
