Back to newsThe Holy Church of Saint Paisios the Athonite will be inaugurated on Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12, in Agrokipio, a village near Chania in western Crete. The inauguration ceremonies will coincide with the saint's holy feast day celebration, making this a significant religious and cultural event for the local community. Saint Paisios was a revered Greek Orthodox monk from Mount Athos, canonized in 2015, and is widely venerated across Greece and Cyprus. Visitors interested in Orthodox Christian heritage and traditional Greek religious celebrations are welcome to attend. The event will feature liturgical services across both days. Agrokipio is located a short drive from Chania city center. Dress modestly if entering the church, with shoulders and knees covered, as is customary at Greek Orthodox places of worship.
