Back to newsA planned power outage will affect the Chania region of western Crete on Monday, June 22, 2026, between 4:00 AM and 7:00 AM. The outage is scheduled by DEDDIE, the Greek electricity distribution authority, to carry out essential maintenance work on the local network. Areas affected include the former municipality of Nea Kydonias and nearly all of the municipality of Platanias, which covers popular coastal villages west of Chania city. Tourists staying in hotels, villas, or rental properties in these areas should expect no electricity during those early morning hours. Air conditioning, phone charging, and kitchen appliances will be unavailable during this window. The outage is expected to be resolved before morning activity picks up, so daytime plans should not be affected.
