Back to newsA two-motorcycle collision occurred on Sunday afternoon on the coastal road (paraliaki) of Heraklion, Crete's largest city. Emergency services from EKAB, the Greek national ambulance service, responded quickly to the scene. One person was transported to hospital following the incident.
The coastal road runs along the northern seafront of Heraklion and is a busy route used by both locals and tourists, particularly during summer months when traffic is heavier.
Visitors renting scooters or motorcycles in Crete are reminded to exercise caution on coastal roads, where traffic moves fast and conditions can change quickly. Helmets are legally required in Greece for all motorcycle and scooter riders. If you witness a road emergency, the Greek emergency number is 112, which connects to police, ambulance, and fire services.
