Supporting local tavernas, family-run shops, and independent businesses directly channels money into Cretan communities. Markets in towns like Heraklion, Chania, and Rethymno offer fresh local produce, olive oil, honey, and cheeses. Choosing local over supermarket chains when possible makes a tangible difference to the families and small businesses that form the backbone of the island's economy.
