Saturday, 18 April 2026/Haniotika Nea/1
The Historical, Folklore and Archaeological Society of Crete, supported by the Regional Unit of Chania, is hosting a public lecture by Professor Manolis Seiragakis on the life and legacy of Konstantinos Christomanos. The talk examines Christomanos as a theater director and cultural figure. Born in 1867, he was a Greek writer and stage director who became internationally known partly through his role as Greek language tutor to Empress Elisabeth of Austria. The lecture takes place in Chania and is open to the public. Visitors with an interest in Greek cultural history, theater, or the connections between Crete and 19th-century European intellectual life will find this a worthwhile event. Check with the Society or the Regional Unit of Chania directly for the confirmed date, time, and venue, as full scheduling details were not included in the announcement.
