Tuesday, 9 June 2026/SourceGoogle News/1 min read
A vehicle left the road on the BOAK highway near Agios Nikolaos, in eastern Crete. A 50-year-old driver sustained minor injuries in the incident. Emergency services responded to the scene. The BOAK is the main east-west highway connecting Heraklion to the eastern part of the island, and it is heavily used by tourists traveling to destinations such as Agios Nikolaos, Elounda, and Sitia. Travelers heading east should expect possible temporary slowdowns near the incident area and are advised to drive cautiously, keep a safe following distance, and remain alert, particularly on sections where the road runs along elevated or curved terrain. No major road closure was reported.
