Ship Deliberately Sunk to Create New Dive Site in Crete

Monday, 8 June 2026/SourceFlashnews/1 min read
A vessel named "A/B Folegandros" is being deliberately sunk to create an artificial dive site at the Apokoronas Diving Park, located in the Apokoronas area of western Crete. The operation begins in the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 10, 2026, and will continue until completion. During this time, strict safety measures will be enforced and the surrounding maritime area will be closed to all watercraft. Swimmers, divers, and boat users should avoid the zone until the operation concludes. Once complete, the sunken vessel will become a new underwater attraction for divers visiting the Apokoronas coast. If you plan to dive or boat in that area on June 10, check locally for updates on when the exclusion zone is lifted before heading out.
