Hersonissos OKs Five-Star Resort Environmental Study

Thursday, 23 April 2026/Tornos News/1
The municipal committee of Hersonissos, on the northern coast of Heraklion prefecture, has approved the Environmental Impact Study for a new five-star resort development proposed by Lydakis and Synatssakis A.E. The positive opinion, issued during the committee's 10th session of 2026, clears a key regulatory hurdle for the project to move forward. Hersonissos is one of Crete's busiest tourist destinations, located roughly 25 kilometres east of Heraklion city and well connected by road. The area already hosts a dense concentration of hotels, beaches, and nightlife. A new luxury resort in the zone would expand high-end accommodation options for visitors seeking a premium experience on this stretch of coast. No opening date has been announced yet, as the project remains in the early permitting phase.
