The Government Council of National Security has decided to retire Admiral Tryfon Kontizas, the former Chief of the Hellenic Coast Guard. Admiral Christos Kontorouchas has been appointed as the new Chief of the Hellenic Coast Guard.
The decision was made during the 8th meeting of the Government Council of National Security on March 23, 2026.
