A tourist required rescue from the Gorge of Mills (Φαράγγι των Μύλων) in the Malevizi area, near Heraklion, after becoming unable to continue along the trail. Emergency services were deployed to extract the individual safely. The Gorge of Mills is a popular hiking destination known for its historic stone windmills and scenic landscape, but the terrain can be challenging, particularly in warm weather or without proper preparation. Visitors planning to hike this gorge should wear sturdy footwear, carry sufficient water, and inform someone of their route before setting out. Hiking alone is not recommended. If you encounter difficulty on any trail in Crete, call the emergency services number 112, which operates in English and connects to local rescue teams.
