Boarding Staircase Collapses at Greek Airport, Injuring Three

Sunday, 3 May 2026/Flashnews/1
A boarding staircase collapsed at Araxos Airport in western Greece during an aircraft naming ceremony, injuring three people. Witnesses reported the stairs gave way without warning, sending passengers falling from a height of approximately 2.5 to 3 meters. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the structural failure. Note that Araxos Airport serves the Patras region on the Greek mainland, not Crete. Travelers flying through Cretan airports such as Heraklion (HER) or Chania (CHQ) are not affected by this incident. Passengers at any Greek airport should follow boarding instructions from ground crew and report any concerns about equipment safety to airline staff before boarding.
