Greece Updates Health Plans as Ebola Lacks Pandemic Potential

Monday, 25 May 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
Greek health authorities at EODY (the National Public Health Organization) have updated their operational plans in response to the current Ebola situation being monitored internationally. Infectious disease expert Gikas Magiorkinis has stated clearly that Ebola does not currently have pandemic dynamics, meaning the risk of widespread transmission remains low. EODY is advising travelers to stay informed before and during their trips, avoid contact with individuals showing symptoms such as fever, severe headache, vomiting, or unexplained bleeding, and to seek medical attention immediately if they feel unwell after visiting an affected region. For tourists visiting Crete, there is no specific local risk at this time. Standard hygiene precautions apply. If you develop symptoms after recent travel to Central or West Africa, contact a healthcare provider promptly and mention your travel history.
