Back to newsA road accident occurred on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 9 on the BOAK highway near Agios Nikolaos, in eastern Crete. A vehicle veered off the road and an EKAB ambulance was dispatched to the scene to assist the injured.
The BOAK is the main east-west highway connecting Heraklion to eastern Crete, and is heavily used by tourists driving between central Crete and popular destinations such as Agios Nikolaos, Elounda, and Sitia. Travelers heading to or from eastern Crete on that route may have experienced delays while emergency services responded.
If you are driving in Crete, exercise caution on the BOAK, particularly on bends and exit ramps where vehicles can lose control. Road conditions and driving styles can differ from what visitors are accustomed to. Always drive at a safe speed and stay alert.
