Two cruise ships docked in the Chania region today. The Emerald Azura arrived at the Venetian Harbour carrying 100 passengers, while the larger Scarlet Lady docked at the port of Souda with 2,587 passengers on board. Visitors to the Chania old town and Venetian Harbour area should expect increased foot traffic and busier conditions at popular sites throughout the day. The Souda port arrival, being one of the larger cruise calls, may also affect traffic on roads connecting Souda to Chania city centre, approximately 7 kilometres away. Tourists planning to visit the Venetian Harbour, the lighthouse, or nearby restaurants and shops today are advised to go early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid peak crowd times.
