Xanthos Cave at Ombrosgialos

The cave of Xanthos is located on a slope above the beautiful beach of Obrosgialos in province Apokoronas , West Crete. The area has many caves with rich cave decoration, from which Xanthos cave stands out.

The entrance to the cave starts with a 4-meter descent where a rope is required. Then numerous burrows lead to many rooms, small and large.

Many times one has to crawl into very narrow tunnels, making the cave inaccessible to common visitors. The cave has a very rich decoration, consisting of colorful stalactites, stalagmites, columns, etc.
