British Tourists Shift to September, Save 50% on Crete Vacations

Thursday, 25 June 2026/SourceGoogle News/1 min read
British tourists are increasingly choosing September over July and August to visit Mediterranean destinations like Crete, a trend travel experts are calling "Super September." Rising peak-season prices are pushing UK visitors to shift their trips to early autumn, where they can save up to 50% on accommodation, flights, and dining compared to summer highs. For visitors planning a Crete holiday, September remains an excellent time to visit. Temperatures are warm but more comfortable, typically between 24 and 29 degrees Celsius, sea temperatures stay high for swimming, and major sites like Knossos and Samaria Gorge are far less crowded. Flights from the UK to Heraklion and Chania remain frequent through late September. Accommodation availability is generally better, and many restaurants and beach clubs stay open until mid-October. Booking two to three months in advance is still recommended to secure preferred properties.
