A magnitude 3.8 earthquake struck the Kissamos area in the Chania regional unit of western Crete in the early morning hours. The epicenter was located approximately 9 kilometers south-southwest of Kissamos town. Earthquakes of this size are common in Crete, which sits in one of the most seismically active zones in Europe, and a 3.8 magnitude event is generally considered minor. At this level, shaking may be felt by people indoors, particularly in upper floors, but typically causes no structural damage. No injuries or significant damage were reported.
