Back to newsRoad cleaning works have been completed on the provincial road network in Sfakia, in one of the largest debris-clearing operations carried out in the area in recent years. Workers removed accumulated materials from the roads, improving access to this rugged region in the southwest of Crete. Sfakia is known for its dramatic mountain scenery, traditional villages, and access to the Samaria Gorge and coastal settlements like Chora Sfakion. Tourists driving to or through the area can now expect clearer, safer road conditions. If you are planning to visit Sfakia this summer, particularly for hiking or ferry connections to the south coast, road conditions have noticeably improved following these works.
