Crete Faces Planned Power Outages Tuesday for Grid Maintenance Work

Wednesday, 1 July 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
Planned electricity outages are scheduled across several areas of Crete today, Tuesday July 1, due to maintenance and upgrade work on the power distribution network carried out by DEDDIE, the national electricity grid operator. These are routine interruptions intended to improve infrastructure reliability. Affected areas may experience temporary loss of power for several hours during the day. Tourists staying in the impacted zones should expect potential disruptions to air conditioning, charging points, and other electrical services. It is advisable to charge devices in advance, carry cash in case card payment terminals go offline, and check with your accommodation for the expected duration of any outage. Restaurants and shops in affected areas may also have limited services during the interruption. The outages are temporary and power is expected to be restored the same day.
