Platanias postpones music festival after fatal municipal vehicle accident

The municipality of Platanias, in the Chania region of western Crete, has issued a formal condolence statement following a fatal road accident involving one of its municipal vehicles. Out of respect for the victim, local authorities have postponed the "2nd Music and Dance Gathering" (2o Mousikochoreftiko Antamoma), a traditional music and folk dance event that had been scheduled in the area. Tourists who had planned to attend this cultural event should note it will no longer take place on its original date. No rescheduled date has been announced at this time. The accident occurred on local roads in the Platanias area, west of Chania city. Visitors driving in this part of Crete are advised to exercise caution on regional roads, particularly on rural and coastal routes where traffic conditions can change quickly.
