Crete Adds 35 Specialist Doctors to Primary Care Centers

Friday, 26 June 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
Crete's regional health system is receiving a boost with 35 new specialist doctor positions being allocated to Primary Health Care Centers across the island. The positions are open to qualified physicians who can apply through the Greek Ministry of Health platform esydoctors.moh.gov.gr. The new doctors will be distributed across multiple Health Centers in various locations throughout Crete. For tourists, this is a positive development: Primary Health Care Centers are often the first point of contact for non-emergency medical needs, and increased staffing means shorter wait times and better access to care. Visitors who fall ill or need a consultation during their stay can visit their nearest Health Center without an appointment for basic medical assistance. European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) holders are eligible for treatment at no cost through the public system.
