35 Migrants Arrive by Boat at Remote Crete Coastal Village

Saturday, 11 July 2026/SourceGoogle News/1 min read
Thirty-five migrants arrived by boat at Loutro, a small village on the south coast of Crete accessible only by sea or on foot. Among those who arrived were a pregnant woman and an infant. Greek coast guard and local authorities responded to the scene. Loutro is a popular destination for hikers completing the Agia Roumeli to Sfakia coastal route and for visitors seeking a car-free seaside retreat. No disruption to tourist ferry services along the south coast has been reported. Visitors to the area should expect a possible increased presence of coast guard vessels. The situation is being managed by authorities and poses no direct safety concern for tourists in the region.
