CrediaBank backs Crete's bid for European Gastronomy Region 2026

Wednesday, 13 May 2026/CretaOne/1
Crete has signed a partnership with CrediaBank to support the island's bid as a European Region of Gastronomy for 2026. The collaboration aims to promote Cretan cuisine, local agri-food producers, and culinary tourism both within Greece and internationally. The European Region of Gastronomy designation recognizes regions with exceptional food culture and sustainable food systems. For Crete, this means increased investment in food festivals, farm-to-table experiences, cooking events, and showcasing local products such as olive oil, cheeses, herbs, and wines. Visitors traveling to Crete in 2026 can expect a richer calendar of gastronomy-focused events, market tours, and culinary experiences across the island. The initiative also supports local producers, so travelers will find greater emphasis on authentic, traceable Cretan ingredients at restaurants and food markets throughout the region.
