Norwegian Pearl Makes Emergency Stop at Chania Port

Monday, 22 June 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
The cruise ship Norwegian Pearl made an unscheduled emergency call at Souda Port, near Chania, in the early hours of Monday, June 22. The vessel carried at least 2,617 passengers, marking the first time the Norwegian Pearl has docked in Chania. Souda Bay, located approximately 7 kilometers east of Chania city center, is one of the largest natural harbors in the Mediterranean and regularly serves as a cruise port. Visitors already in the Chania area should expect increased foot traffic in the old town, harbor front, and popular sites such as the Venetian lighthouse and covered market throughout the day. Those planning to drive or park near the port or city center may encounter heavier congestion than usual.
