At Platani near Souda we meet the small and picturesque church of Agia Paraskevi. The temple is located on a dewy location almost on the main axis of North Crete and hosts one of the most popular feasts of Chania.

On the feast of the patron of the eyes, Agia Paraskevi, crowds flock to the festival and are shared food and wine. The church of Agia Paraskevi in Platani was built about 100 years ago at the site of a very important spring for the whole area at the foot of Mount Verekynthos.

The spring is located inside the church and has never dried up. There is a special glass cover above the spring.

The water of Agia Paraskevi through small underground channels is passed to the stone fountain beneath the temple in a large courtyard with a perennial tree. Beneath the church there are two taverns.
