Crete Museum of Medicine

The Museum of Medicine is housed in the Department of Medicine , University of Crete in Heraklion . Its collection consists of historical medical books, old medical and surgical instruments and equipment, pharmaceutical items with historical significance and photographs.

The main themes are: Medicine in Crete, Herbs and Medicaments, Public Health, Infectious diseases, Medical tools, Ophthalmology, and Medicine and Art. Occasionally temporary exhibitions are organized such as photography, painting or sculpture, special tributes to distinguished personalities, as well as events dedicated to the relationship of medicine with literature, cinema and music.
