Leggi la storia

Fylakes beach is located in Agia Pelagia , 21 km west of Heraklion and just below the hotel built on the small peninsula Souda . It is a tiny bay with fine sand and green shallow waters, protected by the high and verdant cliffs of Souda .

The beach is very narrow, so when there is a wave it disappears completely. When there are also a lot of people, it is suffocatingly crowded.

To reach it we walk from the main beach of Agia Pelagia, we pass in front of the cavernous chapel of Euresis and by a path we reach almost above the beach. From there one can carefully descend the cliff before the beach, but at some point one will have to dive into the water up to the chest.

Alternatively, one can swim about 10 minutes from Agia Pelagia.
