Fandaxospiliara Cave at Latzimas

Csve Fandaxospiliara (aka the cave with the ghosts) is located next to the quarry of Latzimas, at Rethymnon province. The cave was an underground riverbed, which currently has no water.

The length reaches 230m and the depth 11m. Access is very easy, but the interior is full of mud.

The place must have played an important religious role in the ancient times, as evidenced by the broken ceramic parts all over the place. There are some points with worthy decoration but the cave is now at the phase of aging.

The cave has been severely damaged by the quarry explosions and by vandalism.
