Leggi la storia

Dragonada island and in general the complex of the Dionysades islands , in addition to its ecological interest due to the population of Eleonora's falcon , also has exceptional geological interest. Dozens of caves, faults and imposing geological formations are the subject of observation by geologists.

Among the caves of the islet, the Cave in the Dragonara Bay stands out, to which a path leads from the island's port . The cave is almost 40 meters long, its entrance is about 1.20 meters high, and immediately there is a large room with a hole in the ceiling, which lets light come in.

In this room, we can see traces of excavations, as the cave was inhabited in antiquity. Then we can see speleological decoration, and in its last section, it narrows quite a bit, but someone with a little effort can enter the inner chambers.
