Church of Saint George Vagionitis in Kastri

The church of Saint George (Agios Georgios) Vagionitis is located in the settlement Kastri in Viannos province, above the spring Flega and just below the dry Piskopi Pidima waterfall. It has always been one of the most important pilgrimages of the area.

The church is a one-room arched roofed temple that has undergone extensive alterations in the mid-20th century. Inside there are few traces of frescoes, which Gerola refers to in his work " Frescoed Temples of Crete " in 1900.

Externally, the temple has been damaged.
