Leggi la storia

The large temple of the Agia Zoni (Cincture of Virgin Mary) is located inside the village of Agies Paraskies and celebrates the day of the Cincture of the Theotokos (August 31) which is the last day of the Greek Orthodox church year. The church dates back to the 11th century and has frescoes that are very hard to discern.

According to tradition, Agia Zoni helped birthless women to conceive a child. The women surrounded the church with a cotton wick, which was later dedicated to Virgin Mary for making candles.
