Leggi la storia
The remote area of Agadiko is located 71 km south of Heraklion , between the settlement of Agios Ioannis and the Monastery of Koudoumas and very close to the path that connects Agios Giannis with the Monastery of Koudoumas and the cave of Agios Antonios . The wider area is full of salt pans, where you will see the famous salt pans of Asterousia filling hollows with seawater evaporated by the sun.
A few meters west of the beach of Agios Antonios you will find the two small, incredible beaches named Megalo Agadiko and Mikro Agadiko . The name Agadiko probably comes from the fact that the area was once the property of an aga .
A few meters further on there is the small cave of Hostospilios , which is used by the salt pan owners of the area.
