Back to newsCrete has been placed in Category 3 (High) on the Fire Risk Forecast Map issued by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection, with the island marked in yellow on Sunday's national alert map. Authorities are urging residents and visitors to exercise increased caution throughout the day.
Tourists should avoid lighting fires, barbecues, or disposing of cigarettes outdoors, particularly in forested or dry vegetation areas. Do not leave campfires unattended and keep away from any areas where smoke is visible. If you spot a fire, call the emergency number 112 immediately.
Category 3 means conditions are favorable for rapid fire spread due to dry vegetation, wind, or low humidity. Hiking in remote natural areas is not recommended on high-risk days. Check the Civil Protection website or local authorities for updates before planning outdoor activities.
